“The Walk”

Orphaned when their biological parents died tragically, Meseret & her siblings were given to an orphanage in Ethiopia, a country with a history of famine, war, and instability. At the age of thirteen, her prayers were answered when all four siblings were adopted by a family in Busselton, Perth Australia, starting a new life. Many would see this as redemption, but the walk to discovering her true self is just beginning. Her resilience & courage to keep going has inspired many and we hope it inspires you to continue on your journey as well! Gifted By Grace, Original & Angelique Gerber Films officially present "THE WALK!"

“ Jasmine , Angelique, and Team have done a masterful work in helping Meseret to tell her multi layered/ faceted story of adoption, transition, acceptance, belonging, and faith. Her tenderness and sweet spirit drew me in. Though unique, her story of adoption and perseverance is one that would resonate with many. After viewing this work, the Canne FF nomination comes as no surprise! To God be the Glory!”

“Had the absolute pleasure of being at Meseret Cohen’s Screening of her movie, The Walk, last night in which she tells her story about her incredibly heartbreaking and life changing events that lead her along with her younger siblings at the age of 9 into an orphanage and years later all be adopted by a loving couple with a gigantic heart, brought and raised in Australia, in fact right here in Perth. Her message is to create awareness about adoption (or lack of) here in Australia for the thousands of orphans and refugees stranded in Ethiopia and across the world. This is a thought provoking and deeply personal documentary which will definitely tag at your heartstrings and rattle your conscience.”

“The Third Son”

In 2003, Obang and his mother were separated, as war and genocide invaded the Anuak tribe in Ethiopia. After spending eleven years in the Kalobeyi refugee camp, Obang was finally resettled in Perth Australia, and eventually granted an opportunity through Perth Bible College’s International Mission Teams, to go back to Africa and reunite with his mother after fifteen years. Not knowing if he’d ever see her or his people again, Obang’s faith and love of God allowed him to never lose hope in being reunited with his people. The heart that he has for his tribe is truly special to watch and it is a privilege to watch this story as it continues to unfold!
